The SWSTM4317 is the much lighter 39-lb machine with a 43cc 2-cycle engine, 17-inch cutting swath and 12-inch wheels. Southland specifically provides a swiveling/beveling head for trimming along fences and edging.

The S-WFT-16022 is the heavy-duty model: 160cc 4-cycle OHV, 22-inch cutting swath, .155-inch line, 14-inch wheels and 68-lb operating weight. Its manual specifies 6.25 ft-lb gross torque and adjustable 1.5–3-inch cutting height.
